The guy at best buy told me that you cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 42 Inch Television set.He said on tvs over 50 inches that’s when you can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p is that true?

it really depends what you are watching usually the higher the resolution the better however its better to watch a basketball game in 720 than 1080 becAuse there is so much going on in the background and foreground that if you viewed it in 1080 you’ll get somewhat of a streaking effect with the panning of the camera. but if you watched something like kungfu panda 1080 you’ll get a better picture because of the detail in the animation. it goesw back to depending on what you are watching

I have a gateway laptop 8510GZ and it has a vga connector on the back. My TV(LC320EMXF) does not have a vga connector but instead has a HDMI connecter and a S-Video connector.

I have an Insignia 32 inch LCD HDTV and when I press the power button it comes on but there is nothing on the screen and then after about 5 slow seconds in counting the screen displays the words
please wait….. and then 3 slow seconds pass and then the screen finally comes on,why is that?It is a brand new TV I got for my birthday?

pretty sweet tv 6 seconds is nothing, I would wait 10 if i had 2

ok i am getting a 37 inch tv that is 1080p and i was wondering if it would make a difference between that and 720p while playing blue ray.if it matters

i am 13 but i don’t think it matters but just in case age would mess with my ability to see the difference

im trying to pick from Samsung PS42C450 42-inch 600Hz Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview ( £352 ) or LG 42LD450 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview (£366)

not sure which is best , will be used for ps3 alot and alot of just normal tv ( virgin cable ) and alot of movies( yes i am very lazy i know )

so the plasma will give 720p and as far as i am aware plasmas give better pictures (i think) but the lcd is full hd with 1080 p and there just about the same price.

what you guys think?

They are both 40 inch. They both have a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. I will mainly be using it for Gaming, but also movies.

obviously the LCD HDTV 1080p it has higher quality and uses MUCH lesss power than then the 720p tv

By the way, that 600Hz will add a very large number on your power bill.

Even though it is more expensive, the 1080p tv is more worth it because not only will you enjoy higher quality tv, but you will also save a lot of money because it uses less power

Depends on what you’ll be using it for as well as how far from the set you’ll be sitting. For gaming you’ll need to 1080p, for casual bedroom viewing, maybe not. Is there a major price difference?

Personally, I’d go for the smaller 1080, anyday. Quality over quantity.

1080p.. better resolution and despite what some people say you do see the difference on a 32″

I would get bigger though as a 42 wont be that much more.

I’m looking to get a TV for college and I’m going for either a 26 or 32 inch. I know there are alot of new technologies in LED TVs and I was wondering if these technologies would give the LED an advantage over an LCD TV that is 1080p compared to the LEDs lower resolution of 720p.

any tv smaller than 42″ you can’t tell the difference between 720 and 1080. So get the LED because of the better technology behind it. (Low energy, deeper blacks, higher visual quality)

720p is pretty good. 1080p is just higher quality, but at the moment i don’t think anything broadcasts in that unless you have a blueray player or a ps3. I can’t remember but xbox 360 might play 1080p with hdmi cables.
