What are the best settings for a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz TV?

Question by Savader: What are the best settings for a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz TV?
I recently bought a Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD 1080p 120htz television, and I gotta say that it looks amazing with all of the settings I have chose, but I just want to know if it could look better if I change certain things in the settings menu, or if I should turn off or lower some of them if I do not need them. I have HDMI for playing my PS3 and watching my Blu-Rays, and I have RGB for my Xbox 360. I would like only people who are gamers with at least a PS3 or Xbox 360(both would be awesome), who have this same TV, and who are pretty smart when it comes to electronics. People can share what settings are pretty good for them, even if they don’t know that much about TVs, but it MUST BE FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS THE SAME TV AS MINE. I like other people giving their opinions, but only when it isn’t redundant to what I’m talking about.

Btw, if you don’t have a 40 inch like me, that is fine. I only included the size in case there are certain settings only that size has available, or in case some things work differently on different sizes…I don’t think it does, but I am not that great when it comes to TVs, so I threw it in there.
Btw, sorry I put 120htz by accident. I meant to put 120Hz, but kept ending up trying to spell it out…I know, I’m stupid on that deal :P

I have connected my Laptop(HP) to a 40 inch Sony Bravia. How do I increase the screen resolution in the TV?

Question by Vijay: I have connected my Laptop(HP) to a 40 inch Sony Bravia. How do I increase the screen resolution in the TV?
I have connected my Laptop(HP) to a 40 inch Sony Bravia. How do I increase the screen resolution in the TV? I am currently getting only 1024/768 screen size in the TV

Best answer:

Answer by G. Whilikers
The TV is showing what the laptop is sending it. If your LCD is 1024×768, you probably won’t be able to get a widescreen resolution out of it, though you might be able to choose something larger in the “square” shape. Check your manual or the support area of HP’s web site to see what your particular laptop is capable of.

According to the specs in the link below, that TV does not have a headphone jack. That’s not unusual. With rare exceptions, TVs in the larger screen sizes generally don’t have headphone jacks. They’re commonly found on small sets with screens less than 30 inches.

To use headphones with that TV, you’d have to connect an outboard amplifier that has its own headphone jack to the TV’s aux audio output jack. It could be almost any type of amplifier–stereo, home theater, sound bar, etc.–as long as it has its own headphone jack and volume control. When using such an arrangement, just turn down the volume control on the TV.

I wanna know everything about the Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD HDTV KDL-40BX420 tv model?

Question by : I wanna know everything about the Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD HDTV KDL-40BX420 tv model?
So i’m planning to buy a Sony Bravia 40 inch KDL-40BX420 LCD HDTV to replace my prehistoric old tv i’ve had for many years. I wanted to buy a really good tv because my prehistoric tv started to annoy me after i started seeing half of the characters in the tv shows coming out of the screen so that’s why i wanted to buy it. Usually when i buy electronics i always like to do some research about the product and read all the reviews from other users to see if the product is worth buying, after reading about all tv companies i saw that one of the best tvs was the sony bravia so i decided thats the tv i wanted to get. My question is, does this tv does well with video game consoles such as the Nintendo Wii? Can i use my WiFi on this tv with no problem? and can i still plug in the tv the regular cable to watch the local channels and any other non-cable channels on this tv with no problem? is there anything else i should know about this tv?

I know theres so many questions but i want to make sure im buying the right tv for me..lol
Thanx for all your help ;)

All I can tell you is that I wouldn’t buy one. Sony (especially Bravia) has had a lot of returns and repairs for various problems.. Their quality is way down from the old days of Sony..But you still pay for the name. I like Samsung, Panasonic….I am not seeing the average 60,000 hours out of Sony;s..!!

That’s a great TV from Sony. Any of their XBR TVs are excellent TVs. But I would imagine it would carry with it a very steep price. Those are their flagship sets, so don’t come to cheap. Also with 120Hz and 1080p you have some high end features that you will be charged for.

I think you would get an amazing image out of this set, but a Plasma would top it in quality, and for less money. I would take a Plasma over this. But as far as LCD TVs go, this is one of the stronger choices. The only thing better in LCD is to get an LED LCD. That would help your color, contrast, and blacks in image quality. But at 40″, that might not quite be that necessary to do (its a super expensive upgrade).

Question by Snooperman: How many hz does video games use on a 1080p tv because im planning on getting a 46in sony bravia 1080p on 60hz?
i wiil be playing video games and watching blue ray movies in this tv and i want to get a good picture and is there a huge difference in 60hz and 120 hz

Answer by kg7or
You should expect to see noticeable fast motion blur on a 46 inch 60 Hz LCD. With a screen size that large, 120 Hz is pretty much necessary, especially for gaming.

Another spec that’s important is the TV’s response time. You want not more than 4 ms. Anything more also contributes to a motion blur problem.

Bottom line: I wouldn’t consider anything less than 120 Hz and 4 ms. for a 46 inch LCD used for gaming or almost anything else, i.e. any program with fast action like sports.
