Extended warranties are major ripoffs designed to pray on people’s paranoia. The manufacture should cover the TV for a year, which protects you from buying a lemon that is bad out of the box. After that, whatever you break will likely not be covered by the warranty anyway, or if it is it will be an INSANE amount of hassle to have the warranty work executed. I hear stories about people having a tech out to the house 2-3 times before the manufacture lets the TV be sent in for repair, and then the TV is gone for 2-6 weeks depending on the repair. Your warranty also won’t cover surges, falls, or customer-caused defects or malfunctions. . . that knocks out 90% of what will kill your TV.

You would be better off to just take it somewhere and have it fixed. Local repair places around my area fix 90% of flat screen issues for under $ 150.

What is causing the “popping” (and or) “muted sound” coming from my brand new Vizio LCD 32″ HDTV!?!?!

Question by souschefLCD: What is causing the “popping” (and or) “muted sound” coming from my brand new Vizio LCD 32″ HDTV!?!?!
I own a brand new Vizio 32″ LCD HDTV.

My cable provider is Time Warner.

The “popping”/”muted sound” is in and then out in a split second and is very annoying. It happens on both analog and high definition channels. The sound is much more apparent and abrupt on ESPN (during games).

Is this a problem with connectivity/TV/or signal input from service provider?

It is very annoying and I am afraid it is is going to ruin the TV/speakers.

PLEASE HELP!

Bummer. I would check all of the connection wires end to end for extreme crinks (or signs of crinking) and separation at the connectors. If it all looks good, and all of the connections are tight I think your speakers might be defective. Some retailers will handle the issue for your, either taking in the set for repair or replacing it for you. Others require you to contact the local servicing center for the brand, which could be miles away. They may offer to pay for shipping or reimburse for shipping depending on what they determine the problem to be (theirs or yours, basically).

is a vizio 42inch 1080p 60hz lcd tv good for video games?

Question by Joey B: is a vizio 42inch 1080p 60hz lcd tv good for video games?
i dont have enough for brands like sony or samsung . should i get a insignia 42 or vizio 42 for xbox360 gaming

Best answer:

Answer by kg7or
No. You don’t want a 60 hz set for video games. You won’t like the fast-motion blur. For an LCD, accept nothing less than 120 hz, and also check for a fast response time, preferably about 5 ms or less.

Alternately, if games are your main focus, consider a plasma set instead of LCD. No fast motion blur.

I’m trying to skip the black Friday chaos? These are the two in my budget.

I was looking at the exact two TV’s but decided to go for the 37LG30 (LG) instead. It’s only $ 100 bucks more from Best Buy. But if i had to choose from both of those, I would go with the Samsung. It’s a better brand in general.
